Access Free Therapy Through IFHP at Rooh Therapy
At Rooh Therapy, we are proud to be an Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) registered provider, offering up to 10 free therapy sessions to eligible clients. The IFHP is a Canadian program designed to ensure that refugees, refugee claimants, and other eligible newcomers have access to essential healthcare services, including mental health support, as they settle into life in Canada.
What is the IFHP?
The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) provides temporary healthcare coverage to individuals who are not eligible for provincial or territorial health insurance. It is a vital resource for groups such as:
-
Resettled Refugees – Individuals selected abroad and brought to Canada as permanent residents.
-
Protected Persons – People granted asylum in Canada.
-
Refugee Claimants – Those awaiting a decision on their refugee status in Canada.
In most cases, coverage is automatically activated based on immigration status. However, if you believe you’re eligible and your claim was rejected, you may need to apply online.
How Does IFHP Help with Mental Health?
IFHP makes mental health services accessible and affordable for eligible individuals by covering therapy and counseling sessions. Here's how it helps:
-
Free Therapy Sessions: Eligible clients receive up to 10 one-hour therapy sessions, with the option to extend with a doctor’s referral.
-
Support for Trauma and Stress: Services address trauma, stress, and mental health challenges common among newcomers and refugees.
-
Culturally Sensitive Care: Providers, like Rooh Therapy, offer support tailored to cultural and language needs, helping clients navigate challenges such as resettlement stress and cultural adjustments.
-
Simplified Access: We assist you in navigating the IFHP process and connecting with approved providers.
What Do You Need to Get Started?
